Leatherman

I wanted to get a [tag]Leatherman[/tag] for two reasons 1). For work, so I don’t have to carry a toolbox around everywhere and 2). Because they are very handy for [tag]camping[/tag] and other [tag]outdoor[/tag] activities and general day to day use. I admit Leatherman wasn’t the first thing to come to mind, that would have been a pocket knife but they are flimsy little things and I remember twisting one to pieces on a tight screw once. So I thought [tag]multi-tool[/tag], much more robust and started searching. There are quite a few brands about, Gerber and Vitorinox probably the two in the same ballpark as Leatherman. I think if you look for what you want carefully among these brands you probably won’t go wrong. I went with Leatherman beacuse it is the most prominent brand, very strong and looks good. I managed to find and excellent head to head review of the two I was tossing up between, the Wave and Charge. http://www.equipped.com/lm_charge-wave.htm

From that a surmised the [tag]Charge XTi[/tag] was for me. Doing a quick google of prices and availibility in Australia I pretty quickly decided that I had best check what they were going for on [tag]Ebay[/tag]. A little searching and I did a buy it now on one for $120AU with free shipping from the United States. Thats half the best price I could find it for locally.I recieved it in the mail about 2 weeks later.

First impressions were it was very attractive, heavier than I thought but robust and well engineered, the blade was extremely sharp and I promptly cut my thumb on it. I’ve had it for about 6 months now and I can strongly recommend it as an extremely good allrounder.
