Anatomy Of A Blog Post

I often find when I post something that I’ve forgotten to do something I had planned to and that might have made the post just that much better, who knows at times it could mean the difference between the post disappearing into the archives or rocketing to the top of some social networking site. So I have made a post of what I should be doing every time before I hit that Publish button. So here we have 10 simple steps to a solid post, hopefully it helps others who make the same mistakes I do and serves a reminder to myself.

1. Working Title, The first thing that pops into your head to describe the post will do.

2. Research, Know what you are on about, real facts to back up your words are worth the effort.

3. Write, Don’t rush, one great post a week is better than 1 crap one everyday.

4. Edit, Cross check your facts, correct spelling, rearrange text if need be, cut bad or usless bits of information out.

5. Links, Give credit to the places you researched and add other appropriate links.

6. Images, Find an image or a few appropriate to the post to help it look better but don’t go overboard they are not mandatory.

7. Categorise, Simple.

8. Publishing Title, Research what type of title will attract the most readers for this post, think keywords but put human readers before search engine bots.

9. Preview, if it doesn’t look like it should fix it.

10. Publish
